A refreshing Nordic salad with smoked salmon  perfect for warm weather. Flavorful, light, and rooted in Scandinavian tradition.

Nordic salad is a traditional dish from Scandinavia, where fresh and preserved ingredients like salmon, potatoes, and pickles are staples of local cuisine. Especially popular during the warmer months, this salad is known for its refreshing flavor and nutritional value. Rich in omega-3s, proteins, and fresh vegetables, it's perfect for light outdoor meals. Typically served with rye bread or as a side for herring, Scandinavian meatballs, or seafood.

Ingredients (serves 4):

  • 300 g smoked salmon, sliced
  • 500 g cooked baby potatoes, quartered
  • 1 cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1 red onion, julienned
  • Fresh dill, chopped
  • 2 tbsp capers
  • 150 g sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation:

  1. Mix sour cream, mustard, lemon juice, salt and pepper for the dressing.
  2. In a large bowl, combine potatoes, cucumber, onion, and capers.
  3. Add salmon and dressing, mix gently.
  4. Top with dill and serve cold.
